Job Summary

Eastwood Christian Children’s Center is a private Parent’s Day Out program and is a ministry of Eastwood Christian Church in East Nashville. The program seeks to create a loving and joyful learning environment for young children ages 18 months to 5 years. The program follows the Metro Davidson County Schools’ calendar operating mid-August to mid-May with an 8-week summer program in June and July.

The position of the director of the Eastwood Christian Children’s Center is both administrative and educational. The director will manage the day-to-day operations of the Parents Day Out program, including overseeing teachers, aides, and all students during classroom hours, as well as providing administrative leadership. In addition, the director position will also serve on Eastwood Christian Church’s “EC3 Committee” as a liaison between the preschool community and the church community. The director will work closely with the Senior Minister of Eastwood Christian Church.

Job Responsibilities

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides leadership, management, vision, and best practice methods to ensure that the
    mission and core values of the school are in practice.
  • Maintains positive relationships with various stakeholders, including the Senior
    Minister, church leadership and staff, members of the EC3 Committee, church
    members, funders, and parents.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, retaining, and supervision of all school staff.
  • Directs the admissions and enrollment process for the school.
  • Responsible for the fiscal management of the school, including but not limited to
    authorizing or recording hours and reporting payroll, reviewing monthly financial
    reports, and maintaining a balanced budget.
  • Prepares the agenda for quarterly EC3 Committee meetings, including an annual draft
    budget, and provides information to the church’s relevant committees, and submits the
    church’s Board Chair as needed and requested.
  • Facilitates regular communication with the church and relevant church committees and
    provides school updates for church emails and newsletters.

Educational Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops and manages school calendar and school-wide events, including parent-
    teacher conferences, picture day, open house, and parent tours.
  • Ensures that classroom environment and daily activities for children foster social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.
  • Coordinating with teachers to plan and implement yearly curriculum–Facilitating
    teacher meetings -Monitoring and purchasing necessary supplies.
  • Oversees and updates school safety procedures, including emergency response and sick policies, and works with the Church’s Property Committee to ensure building issues are addressed.
  • Directs ongoing quality improvement of the school, including updating school policies,
    procedures, manuals, and website.
  • Fosters a team culture in which each child is nurtured and which creates a joyful
    learning and working environment.
  • Coordinates ongoing and annual educational training for teachers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an education-related field.
  • Experience serving as a program manager or administrator.
  • Good working knowledge of child development
  • Openness to a work culture that is nurturing of all children regardless of race, income, religion, or sexual orientation.
  • Mature, responsible, energetic person who works well in a team environment.
  • Completion of criminal background checks.
  • 3 References to demonstrated qualifications and experiences
