Job Summary
The Center for Living and Learning is seeking a Job Coach to provide on-site job training, supervision, and support to individuals who experience mental illness. A qualified candidate will have the opportunity to promote an individual’s independence and success in the workplace while focusing on the integration and coordination of supported employment services. Because of the varying work schedules of each individual, this position requires flexible working hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Create and develop job coaching and employment plans
- Develop a job analysis prior to the individual’s start of employment
- Supervise and observe the individual’s work behaviors at the job site
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with the individual’s supervisor
- Communicate effectively with the vocational manager, reporting the individual’s progress in a timely manner
- Understand the individual’s learning style and implement appropriate training cues
- Recommend and implement necessary accommodations and/or modifications as needed
- Advocate for inclusion and equal treatment for the individual
- Monitor and evaluate the individual’s progress, completing and submitting job coaching reports for each shift
- Systematically fade supports as task mastery occurs and natural workplace supports are established
- Provide disability awareness education for the employer in order to promote a successful work environment

Qualifications
Requirements: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an associate degree/high school diploma and three years of relevant experience. Paid experience working directly with those with a disability will be considered first. All candidates are subject to a background check and must have reliable transportation as well as a valid driver’s license. Recommended qualifications include:
- Strong work ethic
- Relational support skills: the ability to respectfully guide, advise, delegate, and direct
- Ability to multi-task and maintain progress reports
- Ability to use time effectively
- Excellent organizational skills
- Reliability
- Ability to quickly and calmly adapt to change
