Job Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities/Principal Activities:
- Implement a BHC model and provide consultation to the primary care team, brief interventions, behavioral interventions, suicidal/homicidal risk assessments, substance abuse assessment and intervention, trauma and anxiety management, stress management, psychosocial and behavioral aspects of chronic disease, and health behavior change, anger management, and other brief solution focused therapy as clinically determined.
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy as identified and clinically determined.
- Complete Diagnostic Interview and assessment to determine eligibility for services.
- Complete Strengths-Based Assessments and Individual Service Plans with the family and child/youth.
- Complete consultations, brief intervention, and diagnostic assessment to determine the level of care needed.
- Complete evidenced-based measures and track the progress of care.
- Complete treatment plans per policy in the EHR.
- Collaborate and work closely with staff of the primary care office to ensure wrap-around support of children, youth, and families.
- Provide primary care providers with updates regarding services and the progress of children, youth, and families referred.
- Provide mental health consultation within the primary care office to any child, youth, or family identified.
- Provide training to staff in the primary care office related to mental health and trauma-informed practices.
- Provided training (Youth Mental Health First Aid) in the community related to mental health and trauma-informed practices.
- Collaborates as needed with other resources within TNV and the community.
- Complete transition and discharge plan and summary.
- Provide necessary treatment summaries and documentation as requested.
- Ensures treatment services conform to CARF standards
- Other Duties and/or tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in counseling/therapy or closely related field and license eligible with two (2) or more years of work experience in the field. Preference is given to parents/caregivers or family members of children with SED. Non-profit organization experience and work history within child-serving systems are preferred.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of the developmental, mental, emotional, relational, and social needs of children.
- Knowledge of and experience working with children who have mental health and/or behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge and experience with child and adolescent development, including trauma-informed care, and child-serving systems.
- Experience in developing strength-based treatment and/or behavioral plans and in skill-building with families.
- Proven commitment to a system of care principles and to working effectively as a part of a team.
- Be approachable and engaging.
- Be knowledgeable and sensitive to the culture of the youth and family and effectively convey that to team members.
- Ability to empathize with families.
- Focus on empowering children/youth and families.
- Knowledge of and experience working with educational and other child-serving systems and local resources.
- Excellent organizational, written, communication, and problem-solving/creative thinking skills.
- Excellent collaboration, customer service, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance.
