Job Summary

Position Type: Full-time, Onsite | Salary: $210k to $240k annually (dependent on relevant experience)

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee is seeking a visionary and results-oriented Chief Development Officer (CDO) to architect and lead the next generation of philanthropic growth. We are looking for someone with an instinct for identifying and securing new high-value donor relationships and delivers transformational results through strategy, innovation, and execution.

Job Responsibilities

Key Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the architect and driver of a bold philanthropic vision that fuels the YMCA’s mission across Middle Tennessee.
  • Build and expand a high-impact major gifts strategy, identifying untapped opportunities and cultivating legacy-minded donors.
  • Advance and lead the YMCA’s endowment/foundation program and ensure alignment with long-term organizational goals.
  • Inspire, influence, and deliver. Moving beyond transactions to create a culture of generosity, engagement, and purpose.

Qualifications

This Role is Ideal for a Leader Who:

  • Has a proven track record of leading large capital campaigns, delivering sustained, multimillion-dollar outcomes for mission-driven organizations.
  • Thrives on building relationships and securing new major donors and capital gifts through insight, strategy, and persistence.
  • Understands how to cultivate and grow endowments, ensuring the organization’s long-term financial strength.
  • Has led the strategy for annual giving programs, bringing disciplined execution to donor retention and pipeline development.
  • Brings a forward-thinking, innovative approach to fundraising. Leveraging data, storytelling, and creative engagement to reach new audiences.
