Job Summary
If you are a quick thinker and a people-oriented person with great organizational skills who is willing to work hard to lead and inspire volunteers, this is the role for you. Dream Streets is in search of a Food Program Coordinator who will manage all aspects of our Mobile Food Distribution program from recruiting and equipping volunteers to stewarding relationships with grocery stores to driving the food truck and participating in food rescue and distribution. This person will walk volunteers through the process of becoming part of our family from the point of volunteer inquiry through the process of becoming a seasoned volunteer and contributor to our organization. This role will also manage many of the backend systems that keep both our volunteer and background check processes running smoothly, as well as the data reporting for our Mobile Food Distribution. This role is both back-end facing with some computer time and food pick-up as well as front-facing with volunteer and community interaction. Candidates must be flexible and have a can-do attitude.
Job Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination Responsibilities
- Serve as the initial point of contact for new volunteers, sharing the vision for Dream Streets and onboarding them to the best ministry fit for their skills and availability
- Communicate with program staff leads to onboarding and assimilate new volunteers
- Manage background check process, ensuring that new volunteers are background checked prior to serving and that current volunteers are re-checked annually
- As needed, attend volunteer and service fairs on behalf of the organization to recruit new volunteers
- Use team databases to collect and store information on volunteers and opportunities
Food Program Responsibilities
- Manage Mobile Food Distribution administration tasks and processes by stewarding relationships with partner organizations (Second Harvest, grocery stores, wholesale stores) to ensure processes are running smoothly from the back end; serve as organization liaison with food partners for all certification and partnership requirements
- Report incoming food donation by receiving data and inputting into required partner programs an database systems
- Work with Mobile Food Distribution Director to ensure that volunteer sign-ups are meeting needs of the program; manage SignUp Genius, Meal Connect, and any other food-related data platforms per partnership requirements
- Plan and organize ministry-related meals and purchasing/acquisition needs as requested by program staff
- Support the growth of the organization by seeking out new food partners and food sites
Food Truck Responsibilities
- Complete all assigned food distribution pickups throughout Davidson County and deliver food donations to appropriate locations as indicated by weekly schedule
- Maintain appropriate state driver’s license requirements with no outstanding violations present on record
- Assist at Mobile Food Distribution sites as needed by Program Director or onsite staff/lead volunteer
- Feel comfortable serving as a lead figure for program volunteers, providing a welcoming environment and enriching experience conducive to our organization values
- Help maintain trucks in working order, relay any necessary maintenance needs and/or issues to Operations Manager
Responsibilities to the team:
- Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with our statement of faith and our staff values
- Attend staff meetings and maintain regular office and WFH hours
- Serve program leads and ensure that they have the volunteers and systems necessary to conduct their ministries well
- Possesses solid administrative skills, can stay organized and on top of the needs of multiple ministries
