Who We Are Looking For

The Development Coordinator– Events and Communication is a proactive, results-oriented professional responsible for telling Monroe Harding’s story and driving departmental growth. This role focuses on raising stakeholder awareness and achieving specific revenue targets. The coordinator will take the lead on creative event concepts, ranging from major annual galas to targeted micro-events, while maintaining a high-level presence in donor-facing communications and social media strategy.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Development Coordinator

Fundraising & Revenue Generation

  • Departmental Goals: Collaborate closely with the Senior Director to meet annual fundraising targets and support overall departmental success.
  • Micro-Events: Conceptualize and execute creative “micro-events” designed for targeted donor cultivation and niche fundraising opportunities.
  • Donor Presentation: Confidently present the mission to donors of all kinds at community events, agency fairs, and speaking engagements.
  • Sponsorship & Solicitation: Visit potential sponsors, solicit auction items, and manage relationships with event vendors to maximize revenue.

Marketing and Communications

  • Effective Copywriting: Identify, write, and review compelling client stories for newsletters, grants, email campaigns, and executive correspondence.
  • Brand Consistency: Create and maintain cohesive collateral materials, including annual reports, brochures, and promotional flyers, ensuring all materials align with the brand identity.
  • Public Relations: Write press releases and content for radio and print media in conjunction with the Senior Director.
  • Media Production: Coordinate the production of video content and manage the organizational photo collection.
  • Recruitment:  Coordinate and schedule recruitment opportunities to advance the Monroe Harding brand and programs such as recruitment booths, fairs and etc.

Digital Strategy & Website Management

  • Social Media Trends: Design and implement a social media strategy (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) with a strong pulse on current digital trends.
  • Website Maintenance: Assist in managing and maintaining the website, working with design vendors to ensure content is timely and engaging.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze and report on the impact of communication efforts on fundraising success.

Event Management & Logistics

  • Full-Cycle Planning: Plan major events with the assistance of the Senior Director by handling everything from concept design to day-of logistics.
  • Committee Coordination: Manage volunteer committees for special events and coordinate with the Development Coordinator—Donor and Volunteers.
  • Budget Oversight: Assist in the management of event-specific budgets to ensure financial efficiency.

Qualifications

What we expect in a Development Coordinator at Monroe Harding

Qualifications

  • Results-Oriented Initiative: A self-starter with a high degree of flexibility and the ability to manage multiple demands simultaneously.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Excellent English language skills (oral and written) with the ability to build rapport with donors.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Canva, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and presentation software. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Analytical Ability: Skill in compiling and analyzing data to track revenue and communication goals.
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensing: Valid Tennessee driver’s license.
