Job Summary

The Development & Donor Relations Coordinator will focus on three areas: donor cultivation and retention, growing our recurring donor (membership) program, and helping facilitate our 2026 events (including a major Fall Fundraiser).

Success Metrics for Role Extension

This position is initially funded for 6 months. We want you to succeed, and we'll do everything we can to support your efforts because it helps the entire organization. Success—and subsequent contract extension—will be measured by:

  • Progress made toward the FY26 donor retention goal.
  • Successful coordination and revenue goals met for the Fall Fundraiser.
  • Growth in the number of recurring monthly donors.

Job Responsibilities

1. Donor Cultivation & Retention

  • Individual & Major Gifts: Work alongside leadership (Liz and Stasia) to connect with top individual donors, schedule meetings, and coordinate unique stewardship opportunities (like "meet an ambassador" or behind-the-scenes tours).
  • Gratitude Campaigns: Coordinate and engage board members and volunteers in executing monthly thank-you call and card campaigns to donors (tracking feedback in our system).
  • Lapsed Donor Outreach: Spearhead personal outreach to recent first-time donors to cultivate long-term alignment and secure repeat giving.

2. Recurring Donor / Membership Growth

  • Program Expansion: Drive the strategy to increase recurring donors, aiming to boost predictable revenue via targeted outreach campaigns.
  • Donor Segmenting: Use Donor Management tools (Network For Good) to segment donor lists, send targeted upgrade requests, and clearly articulate the tangible impact of their monthly gifts.

3. Events & Faith-Based Community Outreach

  • Fall Fundraiser & Events: Partner with the Board to facilitate and hit revenue goals for our scheduled 2026 events, including a new Fall Fundraiser.
  • Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Help supporters, volunteers, and board members launch their own peer-to-peer digital campaigns.
  • Community Relations: Assist in reaching out to local faith-based communities, offering workshops, and inviting them to engage with Harmony’s mission.

4. Marketing & Communications Support

  • Collateral & Stories: Assist in gathering success stories and photos to update our core case for support across print, email, and social media.
  • Campaign Execution: Help execute warm, story-driven email appeals and social campaigns, particularly leading up to GivingTuesday and year-end.

Note: Grant writing and foundation strategy are handled by a separate contractor and are not a part of this role’s responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising, donor relations, event planning, or community outreach.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently connect with diverse donors, board members, and volunteers.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with donor databases/CRMs (Network for Good experience is a plus), email marketing platforms, and social media.
  • Mission-Driven: A genuine passion for wildlife conservation, animal welfare, and environmental education.
  • Local Knowledge: Based in or very near Nashville, TN, with the ability to attend local meetings, events, and donor tours as needed.
