Job Summary

The Development Manager is responsible for fundraising, marketing, community engagement and organizational processes and operations for NAMI Davidson County in collaboration with the Executive Director (ED). Duties include writing grant proposals, donor cultivation and retention, securing sponsors, event planning, creating marketing materials, supporting community programs and outreach, developing operational processes, maintaining the CRM and website and supporting the continuation of the free services provided by NAMI Davidson County.

Job Responsibilities

 

  1. Fundraising
  • Set and achieve goals within a yearly fundraising plan in alignment with the overall strategic plan.
  • Seek out and serve as the main point of contact for individual donors, including major gift donors and institutional donors.
  • Research new sponsorship opportunities and continue relationships with current sponsors.
  • Research and write grant proposals, in collaboration with the ED and staff, based on the needs of the organization and the current strategic plan.
  • Set and achieve fundraising event goals for the three annual events.
  • Create and implement yearly fundraising campaigns outside of/in addition to the annual event schedule.
  • Event planning and volunteer management for the three annual signature events, including NAMIWalks.
  1. Marketing
  • Set and implement, in collaboration with the ED, branding and communication plans for the organization.
  • Create marketing materials for the organization, and specific to initiatives, programs and partnerships.
  • Create and distribute the annual impact report.
  • Maintain and update the organization’s online profiles annually and as needed.
  • Research and utilize NAMI national marketing materials and updates as needed.
  1. Engagement and Direct Services
  • Support the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health support programs, peer support groups and educational workshops.
  • Provide culturally responsive advocacy, education and resources to participants.
  • Collaborate with local organizations, coalitions and communities to address mental health needs and reduce stigma.
  • Represent NAMI Davidson County at community events, advocacy forums and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop and share educational materials on mental health and policy issues.
  1. Operations
  • Collaborate with ED and staff to develop and review internal processes for all facets of the organization.
  • Update, maintain and improve the CRM, including training staff as needed. This includes events, volunteer, membership and donor management.
  • Update, maintain and improve the NAMI Davidson Co. website.
  • Working knowledge of all platforms used including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, NAMINet/360 (internal), DonorDrive, WordPress, Canva, Neon (CRM)
  • Improve internal processes regarding data entry and transfer between systems, i.e. DonorDrive and Neon (CRM)
  1. Reporting and Administration
  • Collaborate with the ED and all stakeholders to improve messaging and convey fundraising/marketing etc. updates during weekly staff meetings.
  • Coordinate with NAMI national and NAMI affiliates during NAMIWalks.
  • Submit weekly timesheets to the ED and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
  • Complete necessary staff documentation, such as signing mileage reports, completed outreach forms, etc.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Development or a related field, and/or experience working in fundraising, business development, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in community mental health, particularly with individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness, is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency with technology and computer software.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training, particularly in nonprofit development and mental health advocacy.
