Job Summary

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications

Purpose: To create compelling multimedia content and work collaboratively with colleagues to tell the University School of Nashville story

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Serve as deputy to the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications by contributing to the strategic direction of communications and marketing for schoolwide initiatives and assuming responsibility for Marketing & Communications Office operations in the absence of the DSMC
  • Manage the school’s official social media accounts by: maintaining a shared content calendar; regularly posting engaging content on weekdays and during special events; engaging in and leading online conversations regarding the school; and monitoring school hashtags, geotags, and mentions
  • Create & curate multimedia content to provide key insights into life at USN and tell impactful stories that can be appreciated by key publics for fundraising, stewardship, branding, recruitment, and awareness campaigns
  • Supervise student leaders and parent volunteers in the creation and execution of tailored plans for school-affiliated social media accounts
  • Track analytics and regularly audit social media channels, using data to reframe content strategy and guide new campaigns
  • Conceptualize and write weekly features for the news section of the website, working with and interviewing alumni, faculty, students, and other community members
  • Curate and publish Division & Office-specific electronic newsletters
  • Collaborate with the Alumni & Development Office to publish the annual Report on
  • Philanthropy assist with crisis communications response
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Services Specialist and Websites Manager to execute strategic marketing and communications initiatives
  • Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Communications Director

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism required 5 to 7 years of progressive work experience in writing, photography, and digital marketing with special consideration given to experience in education or with nonprofits

Skills and Abilities

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated knowledge of principles of integrated marketing and communications, especially with creating and executing a multichannel content strategy that drives increased engagement
  • Basic photography skills and knowledge of design and layout principles necessary
  • Passionate about using impactful words and visual content to share best educational practices
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills that are conducive to working with a collaborative team and instrumental in establishing and sustaining effective working relationships
  • Be flexible with time and availability for school events during evening and weekend hours
  • Eager involvement in school life beyond daily responsibilities
  • Maintain a personable yet positive and professional online presence as a representative of USN and while following the school’s Policy Regarding Social Media and Electronic Communication
  • Proficiency with Sprout Social, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace a plus
