Job Summary
The Center for Living and Learning (CLL) is seeking Direct Care staff for Sunday daytime shifts, 8:00am-5:00pm.
Day shifts are 8:00am-5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday. Overnight shifts are 5:00pm-8:00am. Overnight shifts include time to sleep. Direct Care staff is responsible for the oversight and care of eight residents. A therapeutic and supportive approach is required in order to maintain a safe environment that promotes the highest level of independence for all residents.

- Supervise residents to ensure that goals on Plans of Care are supported
- Inspect house after resident chores to ensure compliance; complete chores as necessary to guarantee successful inspection by Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS)
- Comply with TDMHSAS regulations in conjunction with policies and procedures of CLL
- Dispense medication according to prescribed schedule, keeping medication cabinet locked at all times
- Document resident progress
- Complete incident reports as needed (when incidents occur outside typical behavior/routines)
- Prepare resident meals/snacks as needed
- Share responsibility with other part-time staff in maintaining staff quarters
- Make rounds before bedtime to ensure resident/household security
- Provide therapeutic-based interventions with residents as needed
- Provide feedback to management regarding resident care
- Assist residents in completing activities of daily living and assigned chores
- Comply with staff checklists of responsibilities as provided
- Carry out additional assignments as needed/required by management
- Sundays only: transport and accompany residents to a church service in the community

Qualifications
Job Requirements: Candidates must be 21+ years old; possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an associate degree/high school diploma and three years’ relevant experience; and possess current and valid first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Candidates with at least two years’ paid experience working directly with those with mental illness/disabilities will be considered first. All candidates are subject to a background check and must have reliable transportation as well as a valid driver’s license. Recommended qualifications include:
- Strong communication skills
- Experience and knowledge working with clients who have mental illness and/or disabilities
- Ability to problem-solve quickly and calmly
- Ability to help maintain structure with ample room for flexibility
- A professional and friendly attitude
- Willingness to cover open shifts as needed
