Position Overview
Tennessee Performing Arts Center seeks to engage local diverse and dynamic students with an opportunity to experience, learn, and immerse themselves in performing arts center management through an internship experience. TPAC is seeking dynamic and diverse Individuals who are looking for a unique experience, who are interested and eager to learn what it means to have in a career at a performing arts center. All majors are encouraged to apply. However, applicants should have knowledge and experience applicable to the area in which they are seeking an internship.
Internships can range from 8-16 weeks with interns working 10 to 20 hours per week.
Departments Available for Summer 2026
Event Management: Assists in event spaces and its diverse programming calendars including opportunities to work on various shows and events such as Broadway, Comedy, Dance, Music, and Education.
Guest Services: Hands-on experience in customer service, event operations, and theater management by supporting staff with audience services, usher coordination, and front-of-house logistics during performances and special events.
Technical Operations: Supports the backstage and production needs of performances by assisting with lighting, sound, staging, and overall technical setup and operation for a wide range of events.
Arts Education, Camp Crew: Assists with daily operations, event planning, and management of all TPAC summer classes and camps.

Primary Responsibilities

- Responsibilities will be determined by the department for which the candidate is interning.
Qualifications
- A strong interest in and enthusiasm for exploring a career in performing arts center management.
- Individuals who bring unique perspectives and experiences to performing arts administration and staffing, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and valuing diverse voices and perspectives
- Open to all academic majors.
- Relevant knowledge or experience in the area of interest for the internship.
- Rising juniors, rising seniors, or graduate students.
- Good academic and conduct standing with their institution.
Software and Services Used
- Momentus Elite, Microsoft Office Suite, Tessitura, ADP, Adobe
Frequent Functions and Working Conditions
- Work in an office environment.
- Ability carry and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
