Job Summary

The FiftyForward Meals and Outreach Manager is responsible for management, oversight, and day-to-day meal provision through FiftyForward Fresh, FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services, and the Knowles Center. The Meals and Outreach Manager conducts outreach, advocates for, and connects older adults, especially those most vulnerable and isolated, with meals, food, and additional resources to increase food security and decrease isolation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of meal and food provision through FiftyForward Fresh, FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services and Knowles Center.
  • Manage daily operation of FiftyForward Fresh, including Food Security Program outreach and service delivery.
  • Oversee ordering, preparation and submission of invoices for food, meals and supplies for meal provision across FiftyForward Fresh, Friends and Knowles programs.
  • Create an environment that promotes FiftyForward culture and values to attract, retain and develop staff.
  • Train staff on department processes, customer service, and updated policies and procedures.
  • Supervise Food Security Assistant and provide task supervision for volunteers; act as a back-up, filling in as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the FiftyForward Friends Adult Day Services Director to address participants’ nutritional needs.
  • Communicate about the Fresh meal program with new and existing customers and troubleshoot issues that arise with customers.
  • Schedule, coordinate and perform outreach activities to develop collaborative working relationships with older adults and community groups serving older adults including non-profit agencies, faith communities and neighborhood groups.
  • Serve as an advocate and work with potential referral sources to identify appropriate referrals and coordinate timely provision of food, meals and connection to wraparound services.
  • Participate in annual budgeting process and oversees program revenues and expenses in accord with the agency approved budget.
  • Prepare and submit in a timely manner, accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the number of persons served, units and types of service provided and progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives. Ensure that all program, outreach and financial goals are met on an annual basis.
  • Perform administrative program functions including invoicing customers, maintaining data in data management systems, and implementing satisfaction surveys and other evaluations.
  • Manage all aspects of Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meal provision including providing oversight and coordination on-site on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas Day.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work cooperatively with internal and external customers including staff, volunteers, members, customers, and providers.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, customer service, and time and task management.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • An interest in and sensitivity to assisting older adults.
  • A valid TN driver’s license including a good motor vehicle record, and appropriate automobile insurance.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • ServSafe and CPR/First Aid certified or able to receive certification.

Education and Experience:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in social services, management or related field. Associates degree or high school diploma with equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience:

1 – 3 years’ experience in program management.

1 – 3 years’ experience in meal provision.

1 – 3 years’ experience in performing outreach.

Experience working with vulnerable populations (older adults, ethnic/racial minority communities, etc.) preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • This job is performed in a smoke-free environment.
  • Outreach and travel in the greater Nashville area.
  • Must be able and willing to push, pull and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able and willing to use hands for fine motor movements including cutting, opening packages, and setting temperatures on cooking and cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able and willing to tolerate hot and cool temperatures and smell/odor of cleaning chemicals.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Proficient in utilizing a computer, iPad, printer, multi-use copier, fax, scanner and basic phone system.
  • Ability to operate, knowledge of and desire to learn more about food preparation and cleaning equipment.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
