Position Type: Full-time
Position Summary:
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Membership Director, the Member Services Coordinator will assume all duties necessary to promote, organize, and administer member service, including training and supervising Member Services staff; as well as effectively utilizing all available resources to welcome, engage and connect members to YMCA programs and services to achieve a high level of member satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Supervise all aspects of Welcome Center operation, member service, and membership staff, including assisting in hiring, on-site training, scheduling, coaching and any disciplinary action to ensure a high level of member satisfaction
- Work closely with your supervisor to understand, communicate clearly and enforce all YMCA policies relating to member services
- Model expected staff behavior by working Membership / welcome center shifts and working directly with members
- Constantly greet and develop relationships with members and program participants throughout the facility; develop methods to ensure relationship building among members
- Maintain and ensure a safe environment; address complaints/concerns immediately; keep Manager on Duty and supervisor notified of any member concerns, emergencies, or complaints
- Assist with development and implementation of annual membership sales/retention plan and other direct marketing promotions within the Center and the community
- Remain knowledgeable in all programs, class schedules, and membership information and ensure adequate supplies of information are available
- Possess an active understanding of Wellness and be able to coach our “Health Seeker” members; ensure membership services staff are trained to coach our “Health Seeker” members and are knowledgeable of Wellness programs
- Work with Corporate Membership office to develop leads for corporate memberships
- Assist with development, implementation, and management of budgets and all revenue projections within the department
- Maintain adequate records to evaluate, control, and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas
- Serve on the Membership Cabinet within the Association as deemed appropriate by supervisor; participate in, and solicit others for, necessary Center financial development efforts that include the Annual Giving Campaign and other special projects
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
- Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
- Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office and internet usage)
- Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Minimum 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- YMCA experience in membership and previous customer service experience is preferred
Certifications Required:
- Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation Training
- Within two weeks of hire: Membership Software training
- Within 30 days of hire: CPR Pro/First Aid/AED, and not scheduled alone + EAP
