Job Summary
The Mary Parrish Center (MPC) is a nonprofit human service organization dedicated to providing transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and coordinated entry for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking and/or human trafficking. Our mission is to provide survivors of interpersonal violence and their children safe, accessible, and compassionate housing with individualized care that promotes healing, autonomy and hope.
The MPC seeks a compassionate individual to fill its Rapid Re-Housing Advocate position. The Rapid Re-Housing Advocate will provide housing first, trauma-informed, survivor-centered direct to adult and child survivors in The Mary Parrish Center’s Rapid Re-Housing program. This is an exempt, full-time grant funded position, reporting directly to the Director of Programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support, safety planning, flexible financial assistance, and individual case advocacy for survivors of domestic violence who are residing in The Mary Parrish Center’s Rapid Re-Housing Program.
- Provide survivor-centered case advocacy that includes information on public benefits, legal issues, medical care, mental health services, substance abuse, financial planning and employment.
- Provide intensive Economic Empowerment case management to help clients maximize their financial stability.
- Provide emergency financial assistance for its clients on an as needed, case-by-case basis.
- Collaborate with Strings for Hope and Viable to provide access to Workforce Development Programs.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
- Actively participate in appropriate community meetings.
- Maintain client and program confidentiality.
- Work with participants, co-workers, supervisor, community partners, and all other relevant stakeholders in a manner which is consistent with and promotes The Mary Parrish Center’s ethical commitments and organizational values.
- Incorporate trauma-informed best practices into supportive services and advocacy work with survivors.
- Maintain resident files, statistical records, and service documentation to meet the needs of all funding sources.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with agencies providing services to survivors of family and sexual violence.
- Attend appropriate community meetings, conferences, and trainings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Demonstrated ability to understand and implement trauma-informed care and best practices around services for at-risk individuals and families.
- Knowledge and experience of the dynamics of interpersonal violence
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality, as required by law and in the best interests of survivors, staff and the agency.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to work irregular hours (some evenings) when survivor needs dictate.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, and prompt response to messages.
- People-oriented with demonstrated ability to build rapport and gain trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
