Job Summary
The Training and Technical Assistance Specialist works with the Training and Capacity Building Team to strengthen Tennessee’s domestic and sexual violence programs by ensuring member agencies have access to high-quality, trauma-informed training, technical assistance, and resources. This role supports providers in building organizational capacity, addressing emerging trends, and ultimately improving services and outcomes for survivors statewide.
TCEDSV operates remotely but does require occasional in-person staff meetings. Remote schedules are established for the position by the immediate supervisor in consultation with the CEO and COO.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high-quality training sessions for domestic and sexual violence professionals, utilizing both in-person and virtual methods.
- Actively contribute to planning committees for the Coalition’s Annual Conference, the Tommy Burks Victim Assistance Academy, and other training events, collaborating with colleagues to plan and execute meaningful events.
- Develop toolkits, curricula, eLearning modules, and other resources to build capacity for providers across the state.
- Provide individualized technical assistance to domestic and sexual violence programs on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to: staffing and client needs, available resources, best practice standards, the intersection of opioid use and DV/SA, DV and SA laws, and federal and state grant regulations.
- Facilitate affinity group meetings, including the Advocate’s Roundtable, to promote peer learning and collaboration.
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of training and technical assistance to continuously improve quality and impact.
- Ensure that all grant deliverables are met, including accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance on grant compliance to member programs.
- Travel occasionally throughout Tennessee to deliver on-site support, training, and technical assistance.

- Serve as a leader in fostering strong communication between TCEDSV and external partners.
- Follow and support the policies and procedures of TCEDSV.
- Actively learn and uphold the history, mission, and values of TCEDSV.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in social work, public health, education, or related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Three (3) or more years of experience working in a domestic and/or sexual violence program.
- Two (2) or more years of experience facilitating both in-person and virtual trainings for adult learners.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit organizations and community-based services.
- Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence, as well as the systems that support survivors.
- Experience applying trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work efficiently and effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create accessible materials and presentations.
- Proficiency in virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) and willingness to learn new tools and technology.
- Experience with federal and/or state grant compliance preferred.
